Nice YouTube video! I think an exterior keyboard would be a pain.I am beginning to get the hang of touch typing on my little tablet. I have set the keyboard so it makes a little clicking sound as I type. This helps.

I’m not a musician. But I’m listening to this Ligeti’s etude 6 many times per day since three days ago. I like it very much. A musician friend offered me to play it for me if I get the score. Googleing for it I found your post, it’s very nice.

Yes. I did figure this out. After emailing some musician friends we agreed that it is a misnotation and that the D is not a dotted quarter, but rather a dotted eighth.

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with Amiri Baraka. He made Cornell West look like bubble gum. They both lectured at University of Michigan while I was there. Baraka had a talk in a house, with a small audience — maybe 50 people. And soon after, West had one of the huge auditoriums. Maybe I just found Baraka more of a kindred soul as a poet.

That said, apparently, if you mention an ongoing health issue while you are at the doctor for your free maintenance visit, you may well be charged for the visit as if it were a regular visit and not a preventive care visit. This might seem arbitrary but when you think about it, it makes some sense. You wouldn’t want people to wait for their free visit to address serious and immanent health problems…

I’m sure this is what is happening to me. My doctor wants to see me once very six months for a check up. I think that’s where the fees start to count towards my deductible.
Thank you for this and the $75! Eileen had scoped this one out. I think we are getting a bit picky this time. At this point, I’m working on the idea of finding out what non electric ones are like and also looking for one that possibly might take up less room.

The small Episcopal Church in nearby Dexter (a little further away than Chelsea but not much) has a 19th century Organ by Henry Erben that was purchased from the Organ Clearing House and restored by Dana Hull and parishioners in 1988. It’s a small, single manual with only one complete rank of pipes plus three partial ranks. from what I read on their website.

You might enjoy stopping by and checking it out. I was told yesterday by the diocesan Transition Minister that I should stop in sometime and meet the rector there. It’s a congregation that has a history of being conservative that is now trying to reach out to the LGBT community. That’s pretty much all I know about it…

Oh yeah… Also, I had lunch with Lew Towler yesterday, a retired priest from Ann Arbor. (Actually I had lunch with a BUNCH of retired priests yesterday at the annual retirees luncheon. It’s just that sitting with Lew was a high point. He’s a very interesting guy. Musician. Used to own his own harpsichord but got tired of tuning it every two weeks.) Lew told me that he has been taking organ lessons and that St. Andrew’s, A2, is letting him use the organ in their chapel to practice. I don’t know the organist there (Tom Strode is, I believe, long gone). But I can try to get hold of Lew if that interests you.
